A quiet drink on a sunday night

In town. Not!

Sunday was rather eventful to say the least. Woke up with what can only be described as a "stonking" hangover. The worst i've had in years, and i've been in some critical states, i'm sure my grandmother would concur. But, i'm 110% committed to our side, there is no I in team is there? Plus we were playing in the cup against a bunch of mackem cunts who needed to be taught a lesson, both on and off the ball. I managed to drag myself out of bed, the 7 S's and then downstairs to neck an Alka seltza, although it wasn't the real "I am", just those cheap tesco branded stomach and headache relief tablets. The recession clouds still haven't fully cleared you know. After digesting this i still felt somewhat done in, still mortal in all fairness but i was able to get some toast and a cup of tea down with the very minimum of fuss. Got down downstairs and out back for a quick tab, i was then ready to rock 'n' roll, hell yes.

I get picked up by our captain and head over to pick my mate up before setting off for the match, banter all the way down with a bit of Classic radio in the background, its sunday morning what do you expect, hardcore senegalese gabba? Stand out tune was definately:

Get there and survey the scene, all is looking grand! Decent pitch, decent size and slick ready in anticipation of a plethora of crunching tackles! Rest of the side turn up and its good to see a good healthy squad this week, 5 or 6 subs and all of good quality, hopefully this will be the same for the remainder of the season but the way we have been going in terms of injuries this is highly unlikely.

To the game, we started off well and so did they, a well fought contest that is a credit to the league that we are in, we were fucking determined to go away with a result though and this showed, we had more fight than the soppy scumbags and at this level this is a true telling character strength. At times this season, due to players being out/not a settled team we have been found wanting in midfield, not on sunday. We won everything(well up until about 65 minutes in) and found ourselves 2-0 up at half time through our captain scoring 2 absolute corkers, that was now 6 cracking goals in the space of 2 games, fucking flying is an understatement. The first half involved some severe and naughty challenges making a predictable appearance, all in the name of fair play and this is what football is all about for me, commitment and working for your teammates. Plus the fucking hideous mackem accent grinds on you after about 13 seconds and to have to put up with it for a full half is bound to piss one off, non?

We started the second half on the front foot and managed to get another goal, we had them in our back pockets at the back and were like fucking hadrians wall, well the bits that are still standing fully upright and solid (here's the website to find out where exactly these bits are: http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/

Like always though we took our foot off the gas, missed opportunities and let them back in, with a small lift up from the baldy coot of a ref, TWICE! 3-2, fuck, "hanging on for dear life central". This is when the team spirit is put to the test in situations like this and by god have we got it in skipfuls(is that a word?)! Ended up winning the game, and shutting the BNP clan they have on their line right up, that made my day seeing the tears in their eyes after the game, let me tell you.

Funny as fuck after the match too, their manager going wild in the dressing room while we singing our songs, love it!! Back to the bar we went ready for a proper full on session, and this is exactly what it turned out to be. Coupled with the fact the toon won it unfolded into a cracking day. Lets hope we both can kick on now and have a good season, the potential is there for all to see. Even Coloccini scored, heavens above!

I accidently put a 2 pound coin into the jukebox after the game which mean't i had 25 tunes to pick, i was in my element. An educated eclectic mix of wavelengths preceded this including bands such as The Verve, Stone Roses, Charlatans, The Who, The Stooges, The Small faces, and The Doves.

And not forgetting Madness, and that's exactly what it was. The dancing that was going down just had never been seen before and in my opinion will never be again!

Ended up on Low Fell, then onto town. By this point i could barely stand up. The less said about the following few hours the better because what happens in town stays in town. The place was wall to wall with freshers fanny though, but i finished the night in the type of establishment i could call my second home these days. What i will say is there was alot of "Dancing" going on.

On the way home....

Monday morning at work was great aswell....... Burning the candle at both ends has never been so good.
